On the occasion of the 2018 edition of the Europe Day, which commemorates each year the Robert Schuman Declaration of 9 May 1950 - considered as the founding speech of the European Union-, a celebration was organized on Place d’Armes in the city centre of Luxembourg.
The European Institute of Cultural Routes participated with a stand, in the cluster dedicated to European institutions. This event has allowed the general public to discover the Programme of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe as well as the various activities carried out by the European Institute of Cultural Routes. A wide variety of brochures and several gifts have been distributed throughout the day.
The European Village was organized around several stands. In the centre of the square, a large number of Member States had information stands, which allowed visitors to discover the culinary and tourist peculiarities of European countries. The event was animated by a rich cultural programme including concerts, dances, animations, photography and street art workshops, exhibitions, release of balloons as well as animations for children and teenagers. The official part of the event was closed with the cutting and distribution of the traditional European cake.
