As a member of the Stakeholders Committee of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH), the European Institute of Cultural Routes can grant the “EYCH 2018” label to selected activities implemented by the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe or by the Institute itself.
On 30th January, Stefano Dominioni, Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement and Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes, the EPA and EICR staff met with some representatives of "Héloïse - itinéraire des pédagogues européens", in order to discuss their project and the necessary developments, in view of a possible future candidacy as "Cultural Route of the Council of Europe".
The Council of Europe and the European Institute of Cultural Routes support 2018 EU-China Tourism Year (ECTY).
Decided in 2016 by the President of the European Commission and the Chinese Prime Minister and furtehr defined at the 2017 EU China Summit, ECTY is meant to promote lesser-known destination, improve travel and tourism experiences, provide opportunitites to increase economic cooperation, create an incentive to make quick progress on EU-China visa facilitation and air connectivity.
On 18th January 2018, the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR), represented by Stefano Dominioni, Director of EICR and Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, and the Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (OEI), represented by Paulo Speller, Secretary General of OEI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. The signature took place in Madrid, at the General Secretariat of OEI.
Europe for Citizens is the EU 2014-2020 programme, aiming at contributing to citizens' understanding of the EU, its history and diversity and at fostering European citizenship and improving conditions for civic and democratic participation at EU level.
In view of 2018 Annnual Advisory Forum of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, a preparation meeting was held at the European Institute of Cultural Routes (Luxembourg) on 17th January.
The VIII Annual Advisory Forum of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe will take place in Görlitz, Germany, from 26 to 28 September 2018. The 2018 edition will be hosted by the City of Görlitz, in cooperation with the State of Saxony and the German Federal Foreign Office.
HORIZON2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation Programme ever: over 7 years (2014-2020), nearly EUR80 billions of funding are allocated for the implementation of Innovation Europe, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimes at securing Europe's global competitiveness.
The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, officially informed the Council of Europe of Turkeys's accession to the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, registered as of 15th January 2018.
