2018 has been declared the EU-China Tourism Year (ECTY), an initiative that aims to increase visitors to both locations, boost tourism investment and stimulate people-to-people interactions.
On Tuesday 17 April at the Beirut Campus (Lebanon) the Institute of Islamic Art and Architecture is opening the exhibition Al-Andalus, Photographs from the collection of the Legado Andalusi Cultural Foundation. The exhibition is part of the collaboration between the Legado Andalusi and the Institute of Islamic Art and Architecture at the School of Architecture and Design at the Lebanese American University.
Why and how did your Cultural Route begin?
On Wednesday 21st March 2018, the Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, Secretary for the Holy See’s Relations with States, informed Mr Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe of the Holy See’s accession to the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, registered as of the 21st March 2018. The Holy See becomes the 32nd member State of the EPA. We should like to thank Msgr.
Jews have always been present in today’s France, but before the French Revolution some areas, like Alsace and Lorraine (East), Aquitaine (South-West) or Provence (South-East), had a more important Jewish life. In these peripherical areas, for a long time not included in the French Kingdom, Jews had been accepted or at least tolerated, while they had been expelled from the Kingdom during the Middle-Ages.

On 4th April, Stefano Dominioni (EPA Executive Secretary, EICR Director) met with Morten Wolden (CEO of the Trondheim municipality) to strengthen Trondheim's position as an ending point of the Route of Saint Olav Ways. This Route is a network of routes passing through Denmark, Sweden and Norway and leading to Trondheim, a very important city and headquarter of the route, where the tomb of the saint is situated.
Within the framework of the European Days of Crafts 2018, the Routes of El Legado andalusi organizes "El alma deSgranada", a voyage through memory of the Reign of Granada to rediscover traditional artisan crafts. The activity will take place from 6th to 8th April at the Centro Albayzín - Convento de Santa Inés, located in the Placeta de la Concepción, 1 Granada.
On 15th March Stefano Dominioni (EPA Executive Secretary, EICR Director) and Jennifer Herkner Gaeta (EICR Project Manager) met with Nöel Orsat, the representative of Via Charlemagne to talk about the updates of the activities organized by the members of the network. Via Charlemagne is a candidate for the Evaluation Cycle 2017-18, which is the regular evaluation of some certified Cultural Routes and evaluation of the new candidate routes.
