In the heart of the Ardennes, in an out-of-the-way region between the towns of Houffalize, Gouvy and Troisvierges, numerous ancient roads cover the land: Roman roads, waterways, great routes, postal routes, railways …

Dominating neighbouring regions, the “Traversée des Pays et des Agesâ€? reveals here and there exceptional panoramas, as far as the eye can see, as well as landscapes which on first sight may not appear quite as spectacular but which in fact contain the traces of an often unknown past. These landscapes are just as worthy of attention as the so-called “remarkableâ€? landscapes.

As well as describing the history of these routes, we will share with you information about the landscapes of the central Ardennes. We will explain the beginnings of the routes and the successive impact of man on them over the course of history. We invite you to explore these historico-cultural landscapes.
