EAU ET LUMIÈRE was founded in 2009 as a non for profit organisation under the French law « Association loi de 1901 ». The main objectives of Eau et Lumière is to promote the outstanding cultural heritage and touristic values of those landscapes and places painted by the landscape painters in the XIXth and XXth centuries. The route rebuilds the geographic and cultural itinerary of the great migration of the Longobard people – between 1st and 11th century AD – along the central axis of Europe. The geographic aspect matches with the cultural aspect of the evolutionary phases of the Longobard Culture.

Chocolate is a European invention. Cocoa, from South America, was joined with sugar for the first time in Zaragoza in 1534, spreading through the European courts and becoming popular in the XX century. The route connects the locations of traditional craftsmanship with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism linked to chocolate, promoting innovation in traditional crafts and SMEs, while experimenting with formulas to interact with other sectors.
